Keep the TV wall useful, not just decorative
A good TV feature wall should make the living room cleaner and easier to use. It can hide wiring, provide a stable TV backdrop, create display shelves, or add storage below the screen.
Before choosing a design, decide what problem the wall should solve. A simple panel may be enough for a clean look, while a family home may need a TV console with drawers, side cabinets or full-height storage.
- Floating consoles keep the floor easier to clean.
- Full-height side cabinets add storage but need careful proportion.
- Open display niches work best when you already know what will be displayed.
Balance the TV size and console length
The console should normally be wider than the TV so the wall feels stable. If the TV is very large, the design may need a longer console, vertical side panels or a wider feature panel to avoid a cramped look.
For smaller HDB living rooms, avoid making the wall too deep. A slim console with drawers and a light panel finish can keep the walkway comfortable.
Choose finishes that match the rest of the home
Wood-look panels make the living room warmer, while marble-look panels create a brighter and more premium feature wall. Dark laminates can look strong, but they need enough lighting and contrast.
If the living room connects to the dining area, match the TV wall finish with nearby cabinets, shoe cabinets or display shelves so the whole space feels planned.
Confirm wiring access before production
Cable routes, power points, data points and soundbar wiring should be planned before the TV wall is fabricated. This prevents visible trunking and makes future maintenance easier.
Share your TV model, soundbar size and wall photos during quotation so the design can include practical access points.
